A long time resident of Darwin, and part owner of Hang It picture framing, I am surrounded by inspiring imagery!  I love hearing the back stories of some of the works that come in for framing, and I know so well the importance of art in evoking feelings and special memories.

My artistic work is continually evolving, and I don’t seem to be able to settle on one medium or subject matter for very long. But I’m told that my own individual style does shine through in whatever I do. Since changing from work on paper, to painting on ply board, I am really enjoying the freedom of painting layer upon layer and scraping back or over painting, to create textures and reveal hidden elements. Working with my friends has helped me to grow and to take risks, and to realize that some pieces are meant to teach you how to enjoy the process and that most mistakes can lead to a new discovery.

I also enjoy doing collages of local Darwin features, using torn magazine papers, paint, crayons and markers.  My abstracts have been a more recent adventure, and now I am finding recognizable shapes creeping into these, without intent. I have to go where it takes me. Wonderful feeling!
